Megastar Chiranjeevi at Waves Summit

The first-ever World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) began today at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurating the event. WAVES aims to create a strong platform for conversations, collaborations, and new ideas in the media and entertainment industry. The summit brings together some of the biggest names in the field.

As part of the summit, a special panel discussion was held today featuring some of the most respected actors in Indian cinema, including Megastar Chiranjeevi, Superstar Rajinikanth, Hema Malini, Mohanlal, and Mithun Chakraborty. The session was moderated by acclaimed Hindi cinema star Akshay Kumar.

During the discussion, Chiranjeevi shared how he developed his passion for acting. He said, “Right from childhood, I had a passion for acting. In my childhood, I used to dance in front of my friends and my family members. They used to encourage me. Due to my inclination towards acting, I moved to Chennai with a dream. As there were already many superstars in the Telugu film industry, like NTR garu, ANR garu, Krishna garu, and Shobhan Babu garu, I kept asking myself what unique quality I could bring to become a star.”

Chiranjeevi went on to explain how senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Mithun Chakraborty inspired him to excel in various departments of acting and reach the stage he is at right now. He said, “In 1977, while I was studying acting, I saw Mithun Da’s National Award-winning performance in Mrigayaa. It was so natural and inspiring. After watching him, I decided to keep things real and connect with people as the boy next door. For action, I was influenced by Sholay and Amitabh Bachchan ji’s daring stunts. That made me want to do my own stunts. For dance, Kamal Haasan was my inspiration. I learned from all of them and worked hard to become who I am today.”

Akshay Kumar praised Chiranjeevi’s honest words, thanked him for valuable insights and called him the true flag bearer of Telugu cinema.

The WAVES Summit will be a four-day event and will continue in Mumbai until May 4.
