Telugu Film Chamber Issues Clarification on Theatre Shutdown Rumors

Amid ongoing reports suggesting the closure of theatres across both Telugu states, the Telugu Film Chamber has officially addressed the issue and provided much-needed clarity.

Telugu Film Chamber Secretary Mr. K.L. Damodar Prasad explained, “Due to several rumors circulating recently, we decided to hold a meeting at the Film Chamber Key producers, exhibitors, and distributors from both states participated in the discussions. We spoke at length about the current challenges faced by theatres. There were reports that theatres would be shut down from June 1st. We want to make it clear that these reports are entirely false and based on speculation. There is no plan to close theatres. On May 30th, we will hold an Executive Committee meeting, where a joint committee representing producers, distributors, and exhibitors will be formed. This committee will focus on finding solutions to the current problems within a set timeframe. We request the public and media to only rely on official information released by the Film Chamber or affiliated bodies. Please do not believe or spread unverified news, as false reports are creating unnecessary panic and confusion in the film industry.

If necessary, we are open to discussing the matter with the government, as we have done in the past. No outsider has ever stepped in to resolve the industry’s internal issues — the industry has always stood up for itself. Finally, we strongly reject the rumor that the supposed shutdown is targeting any particular film. Our collective focus is to overcome the current challenges quickly in a positive direction.”

The meeting was attended by several key industry figures, including Prasanna Kumar, Sridhar, Sudhakar Reddy, Shiva Prasad Rao, K.L. Damodar Prasad, Bharat Bhushan, Venkateswara Rao, Sunil Narang, Anupam Reddy, Bharat Chowdary, T.S. Ram Prasad, C. Kalyan, Muthyala Ramadas, M. Sudhakar, and others.
