The Movie Artists Association (MAA) was established in the 1993(October 4) and has since created a charitable trust fund aimed at providing pensions to retired actors. Additionally, they offer vocal support to actors who find themselves embroiled in controversy, and have collectively protested against various socio-political issues.

To become a member of the MAA Association, an actor must have acted in more than five films. As of 2021, the association boasts over 900 active members.
