We all know that a doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata. Still there were sit-ins across the country regarding this case. Many medicos also expressed their solidarity. In this background, Telugu film celebrities held a walk expressing solidarity with the victim’s family.
Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce President Bharat Bhushan, Secretary Damodar Prasad, Prasanna Kumar, Director Association President Veera Shankar, Producer SKN, Jeevita Rajasekhar, Heroine Kamakshi Bhaskarala, Ammiraju participated in this event.
Writer’s Association Secretary Anu Radha said, “Looking at the attacks on women in today’s society, it seems that women do not get equal respect. We all have a responsibility to protect women. For that, instead of looking at the government, we should think about how to protect women in our organizations and around us. Our union strongly condemns the incident in Kolkata,” he said.
Damodar Prasad said, “Honestly, I am speechless. It is very painful to see the incident. Before we blame the government, we should think about how we are bringing up our children. We have decided to put a women protection cell in all unions. We will take appropriate measures to respect women.”
Jeevita Rajasekhar said, “I have been in the industry for 30 years. This industry has given me a lot of respect. But it hurts to think about the girls. Many of them are excelling in all fields with the intention of running the family along with housework. If someone around us does not behave properly, the girls immediately sense it and stay at home. We should talk to them, we should also take care of our security. We have to be careful when such issues are happening. As a mother, it hurts to think what happened to that girl in Kolkata,” she said.
Directors Association President Veera Shankar said, “We strongly condemn the incident. There is no such corrupt medical college in this country. Even the government from the last 10 years has created a crime center without taking any action on it. We have to think where the values are coming from. Parents should take proper care of their children. Apart from holding meetings like this, all heroes, directors and people who have the power to influence the society on behalf of our Telugu film industry should write letters and emails to the Prime Minister and the CBI about the careless attitude of the Mamata Banerjee government.”
Movie Artists Association Vice President Madala Ravi said, “On behalf of the Movie Artistes Association, I strongly condemn this atrocity that happened to a fellow doctor, not as an actor but as a doctor. It would be better if such humanoid monsters are punished as soon as possible. The rest should be afraid whenever they commit such crimes. Keeping in mind the safety of the women members of our association, ‘Women Security Cell’ ‘ was established. Each member was given that cell email and phone number. Our women can contact that cell and register their complaints. Their details will be kept confidential. I urge all women to use existing technology, the police’s Shi-Team apps.”
Actress Kamakshi Bhaskarla said, “Such incidents bring tears to our eyes. Every time such incidents happen to women, the society condemns them and forgets them for a few days. The issue is not women’s safety. We need to build a safe society for women and men. But until we stop blaming women for such incidents due to their dress and lifestyle, it will be better.” Society cannot be built. So we all have to stop indecent words and actions against women and build a better society.”
Art director Supriya said, “Many people have helped me for this event. I thank Jeevita Raja Sekhar, Kamakshi, Damodar Prasad. In my view, this is a very small thing that we can do. But thank you all for coming.”
