Renowned actor, filmmaker, and innovator Mr. Kamal Haasan visited the headquarters of Perplexity, an AI-powered search platform at the forefront of global innovation. During his visit, Mr. Haasan met with Mr. Aravind Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of Perplexity.
The meeting reflected a shared passion for pushing boundaries—Mr. Haasan, known for decades of groundbreaking work in Indian cinema, and Mr. Srinivas, a leading figure in next-generation AI, found common ground in curiosity and relentless pursuit of excellence.

The visit comes in the lead-up to the release of Thug Life, Mr. Haasan’s much-anticipated upcoming film directed by Mani Ratnam, with music by A.R. Rahman, and produced by Kamal Haasan, R. Mahendran, and Siva Ananth. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2025.
Aravind Srinivas is an Indian-American computer scientist and entrepreneur. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from IIT Madras and a Ph.D. in Computer Science at UC Berkeley. Srinivas has worked at leading AI organizations like OpenAI, DeepMind, and Google before co-founding Perplexity AI in 2022, where he is currently the CEO. Perplexity is an AI startup focused on creating a knowledge-centric platform, featuring a conversational answer engine that merges search and large language models to provide reliable, citation-backed answers. The company is supported by notable figures like Jeff Bezos and Yann LeCun.
Kamal Hassan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Film Thug Life. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, R.
