Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has followed in the footsteps of his father Ilaiyaraaja and carved out a distinct identity as a music director, has also sung many super hit songs as a playback singer. While he has previously sung a few Tamil songs under Ilaiyaraaja’s composition, for the first time, he has sung a Telugu song for the film ‘Shashtipoorthi’. Producer Rupeysh and director Pavan Prabha expressed great happiness for having the credit and good fortune of making this happen.
Starring Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Archana in lead roles, with Rupeysh and Aakanksha Singh as the hero and heroine, ‘Shashtipoorthi’ is produced by Rupeysh under the banner of MAA AAIE Productions and directed by Pavan Prabha. The film is set to release on the 30th of this month. So far, two songs and the teaser from the film have been released and have received a great response.
Now, the third song has been released: “Raathranta Rachche – Mari Nuvvante Picche, Nee Maate Nachche – Madi Marumallai Vichche, Chooste Padatha – Chesthe Chedata Kata Kata..! Pada – Dosti Kadatha – Kusti Padatha – Valapu Vaakita..!”
This song, written by Chaitanya Prasad, was sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja and Nithya Shree. It was released online by Junglee Music.
Speaking on the occasion, Yuvan Shankar Raja said: “I’m very happy to have sung this Telugu song under my father’s music direction. It’s a very cool song, and I think you all will like it. I’m very happy to be part of the ‘Shashtipoorthi’ team.”

Director Pavan Prabha and producer-hero Rupeysh shared more details: “Ilaiyaraaja sir gave us this tune exactly on the day of the film’s launch. We felt that Yuvan Shankar Raja’s voice would be perfect for the situation and the mood of this song. However, Ilaiyaraaja initially got a new Tamil singer to record the song. Later, we insisted and persuaded him to let Yuvan sing it. Once you listen, you’ll understand how well Yuvan sang it. If the first two released songs are on one level, this one is full of romantic energy. We spent the most on this song in the entire film. Renowned art director Thota Tharani created four elaborate sets for it. The song turned out to be very rich and visually appealing.”
